Borealis Fall Short at Palm Springs, 3-2
|
Fans of the Palm Springs Codgers who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Palm Springs win over the visiting Aurora Borealis, 3-2, in 15 innings. Shigochiyo Yamaguchi started for the home team against Thibault Dejean. Thibault Dejean earned accolades for his performance. Palm Springs pitcher Tringen Presser got the win. He's now 1-0. Abay Icharia was tagged with the loss.
Palm Springs got a knockout punch from Mike Soto. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 15th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
Soto said his team "played with a purpose."
