Loggerdoggers Win 4th Straight, Take Down Bokors, 2-1
|
The Beaufort Loggerdoggers got a stellar effort from pitcher Luis Martínez, helping Beaufort score a win over the visiting Port-au-Prince Bokors, 2-1. Martínez, the winner, moves to 4-6. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Shaun Thomson closed the game out for Beaufort, earning his 9th save.
The Loggerdoggers got a big at-bat from second baseman Harry Sexton. For the game, Sexton was 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave Beaufort a 2-1 lead.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Beaufort manager Carlos Moreno.
The Loggerdoggers improved their record to 32-20 with the win over Port-au-Prince.
