The Omaha Insurers cut down the Monterey Sea Lions by the score of 8-3, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Francisco Contreras. Contreras was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Insurers. Eric Grimes picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-2. He struck out 2 in 7 innings. The Insurers win now puts them at 18-28.

Contreras contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Omaha in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Contreras took a slider from Hidemichi Okazaki and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Insurers to leap in front, 4-2.
