Airborne Reel-In 9-4 Win Over Rebels
|
Hampton took on Bowling Green in front of a lively crowd.
The Hampton Airborne defeated the Bowling Green Rebels, 9-4, in part because of catcher Doug Delgado. Delgado went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Airborne. The winner was Masamichi Nagai, who threw 91 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits.
In the top of the first, Delgado had a 3-run home run for Hampton. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Airborne on top, 3-0.
"If it's down the middle," said Delgado, "you might as well hit it."
The Airborne, now 6-29, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
