Tamares Socks Loggerdoggers in 7-4 Insurers Win
|
The Omaha Insurers beat the Beaufort Loggerdoggers, 7-4, at Loggerdoggers Ballpark. Omaha designated hitter Javier Tamares had the hot bat. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Eric Grimes, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Ken King got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Tamares had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-2 slider from Erik Jackson, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Insurers a 6-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Tamares.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Tamares.
The last-place Insurers now sit at 10-21.
