A 4-RBI performance from first baseman Curt Pineau led the Niihama-shi Ghosts to a win over the Bakersfield Bears, 7-1. Young-pil Pin, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 8.1 innings. Niihama-shi, now 15-10, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Niihama-shi used the timely hitting of Shojiro Samurakami to capture the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ghosts on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
