Lobsters Win, 7-5, Versus Den Bosch
|
Maine took on Den Bosch in front of a lively crowd.
The Maine Lobsters withstood an impressive performance by Den Bosch right fielder Ángelo Contreras to defeat the Dykes, 7-5, at Den Bosch Park. Contreras was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Luis Serrano. He is now 2-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits in 4 innings. Brendon Carr, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2040 draft, earned the save for Maine.
Had Ricardo Castro not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Castro hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Lobsters.
"I feel honored to be a part of this team," said Castro.
The Lobsters have hit the ground running, raising their record to 16-7. While it's still too soon to talk about Maine hoisting their 10th Great Northern Cup trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
