Hartford Harpoon starter Sergio Vélez led his team to victory over the London Underground, 4-2. The right-hander was locked-in. Vélez, now 3-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Hartford goes to 10-15.
Hartford used a timely hit from Manuel De Jesús to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Harpoon ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Vélez.
