The Youngstown Thunder knocked off the Bowling Green Rebels, 4-3, in Atlantic Alliance action at Thunder Ballpark. Youngstown pitcher and Columbus, Ohio, native Ben Ford had an outstanding performance. Ford got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The loss drops the Rebels to 3-5.

Carlos Martínez had a big run-scoring double for the Thunder in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Youngstown leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Matthieu Taschini and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 4-0.

"It was a real good effort by Ben," said Youngstown manager Bobby Bryant. "I loved the way he bore down."
