3-1 Win Gets Reno to 11-9
|
In a tight game between the Reno Zephyrs and the Crystal Lake Sandgnats, pitcher Mario Marino was terrific on the mound. The Reno right-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. In 6.2 innings, Marino surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Anthony Soame earned the save for Reno, his 7th of the year.
Pablo Ortíz cracked a home run off Luppe van Dam in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the Zephyrs on top, 2-0. In all, Ortíz had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Mario was throwing strikes, locating well," said Reno manager António Morales.
The loss has the Sandgnats at 15-7.
