Lions Lose Late to Thoroughbreds
|
The Amsterdam Lions could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dave Sherman into a win. Instead, the Kentucky Thoroughbreds prevailed, 4-2, in 14 innings. Sherman threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The Lions fall to 7-9 and continue their sub-.500 start to the 2042 season.
Kentucky needed the clutch hitting of Júlio Flores to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Thoroughbreds on top, 4-2. For the game, Flores had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Flores.
