Apollos Top Borealis, 2-0, to Begin R3
|
Will Taylor and the Tempe Apollos opened the League Championship in brilliant fashion, traveling to Aurora and shutting out the host Borealis at Northern Lights Park, 2-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Taylor, the Apollos left-hander, threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball.
Taylor, who was born in Columbus, Ohio, delivered a quality start for Tempe. The 6-foot-4 left-hander allowed no earned runs on 7 hits over 8 innings of work.
"Will is a gamer," said Tempe manager Tomás Rentería.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Northern Lights Park in Aurora.
