Trailing by a game in the Great Northern Cup, Zhi Yong was ready for his start.
The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Ballonists Ballpark, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Camden Consigliere to victory in Game 4 of the Great Northern Cup. Yong held the Gatineau Balloonists to 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 3. The win brought Camden into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Yong, a native of Yungkang, Taiwan, was dealing all game. He kept Gatineau hitters off-balance, while giving the Consigliere 9 quality innings. Yong threw 105 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 3.
Yong called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballonists Ballpark in Ottawa.
