Balloonists Hammered by Mitchell, Drop Game 6 to Warriors
|
The Ikari Warriors and the Gatineau Balloonists will take the Championship to a decisive 7th game. Facing a must-win situation at Ballonists Ballpark, the Warriors beat the Balloonists, 5-4, in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Ikari right fielder Wayne Mitchell was 3-7 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Rio Broom came through with a big-time hit for Ikari. The third baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Broom.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballonists Ballpark in Ottawa.
