Matsumura Spins Gem, Bridgetown Wins
The Bridgetown Flying Fish racked up a win at Kensington, bumping off the Port Royal Privateers, 7-3. Shirai Matsumura, who started for Bridgetown, pitched effectively for his team. Valentín Mejía picked up the save, his 22nd. Bridgetown is in 4th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Paradise League with a record of 39-37.

It was an impressive outing from the soft-spoken Matsumura, who tallied 9 strikeouts in 8 innings and allowed only 2 hits. Matsumura raised his record to 6-9 on the year with 96 strikeouts.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Matsumura. "Successful pitchers do it."
