Almost There: DeSoto Central HS On Cusp of Round 4 Triumph After 9-4 Win
Riding the 3-hit performance of center fielder Jonathan Hubbard, the DeSoto Central HS Panthers stopped the visiting Tumwater HS Thunderhawks, 9-4, in Game 4 of the Round 4. Hubbard belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Panthers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.

In the bottom of the second, DeSoto Central HS shortstop Bill Gibson had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Gibson stroked a 3-run home run to left. It made the score 3-0, DeSoto Central HS. For the game, he went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Hubbard, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at DeSoto Central Grounds in Southaven.
