Almost There: Washington On Cusp of USCBA Championship Series Triumph After 5-0 Win
|
The Washington Montlake Malamutes got a strong performance from pitcher Júlio Vela, who stymied the Georgetown offense en route to a 5-0 win in Game 4 of the USCBA Championship Series. The Stonewalls could never get a bead on the right-handed Vela, who threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The Montlake Malamutes now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
The Montlake Malamutes liked what they saw from Vela. The 21-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Stonewalls to no runs on 2 hits over 6.2 innings, and striking out 2.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Vela.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Stonewalls Ballpark in Washington.
