The DeSoto Central HS Panthers started the Round 3 in style, downing the visiting Winter Springs HS Bears at DeSoto Central Grounds by a score of 5-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Panthers designated hitter Ron Kelley went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs.

Kelley had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fifth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Panthers went on to win.

"Win or lose, the second this season ends, I'm going on vacation," Kelley said in his postgame remarks.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at DeSoto Central Grounds in Southaven.
