Campaniles Beat Shastas, 8-2, to Start R2
The California Campaniles started the Super Regionals in style, winning on the road against the Houston Shastas at Shastas Ballpark by a score of 8-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Campaniles second baseman Kirby McQueen excelled. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Campaniles sent 21-year-old left fielder Sonny Brooks to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a run-scoring double, to put California on top, 4-2.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," McQueen told the California Citizen.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Shastas Ballpark in Houston.
