West Lauderdale HS Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in R2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of first baseman Peter Calhoun, the West Lauderdale HS Knights stopped the visiting Winter Springs HS Bears, 5-3, in Game 3 of the Round 2. Calhoun went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Knights, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
West Lauderdale HS took a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Corey Lancaster hit a clutch grand slam home run to bring Knights fans to their feet.
"We're feeling good about this," said Knights manager Thomas Peña. "We have got an advantage now and we just need to keep the pressure on."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of West Lauderdale HS in Collinsville.
