Regionals Game 1 Goes to Villanova, Thanks to Bañuelos
|
The Villanova Starbursts started the Regionals in style, downing the visiting Oregon State Dambusters at Starbursts Ballpark by a score of 4-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Starbursts right-hander Ramón Bañuelos threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball.
James Torres was a prime contributor to the Villanova win. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. In the bottom of the first with two out, the 19-year old right fielder hit a 2-run home run. It made the score 2-0, in favor of the Starbursts.
"I like our clubhouse vibe," said Villanova manager Bill Hill.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Starbursts Ballpark in Lower Merion.
