Road Win Lifts Gonaives HS to 2-1 Lead in R1
|
Gonaives HS Revolution manager Armando Navarro knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.
Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 15-year-old left-hander Maxime Delarue silenced the host Bogaerts Bricklayers at Bricklayers Ballpark. The Revolution shut out the Bricklayers by a final score of 4-0, to give the Revolution a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 1.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Axel Granier? The 17-year old third baseman Granier stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Gonaives HS up, 1-0. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We're feeling good about this," said Revolution manager Armando Navarro. "We have got an advantage now and we just need to keep the pressure on."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bricklayers Ballpark in Brussels.
