Kyrle Blasts Leopards, Rifles Take Game 5, 4-0
|
When the games really matter, the Eton Rifles put on their best show, beating the Strathcona HS Leopards by a final score of 4-0. Jacob Kyrle went 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Eton now leads Strathcona HS 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.
Eton used the hitting of Liam Rabbetts to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rifles on top, 2-0. For the game, Rabbetts had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Leopards manager Mark Hunt did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Round 4."
Game 6 is scheduled for Sunday at Rifles Ballpark in London.
