The Round 1 got off to a quiet start, with the host DeSoto Central HS Panthers taking a low-scoring, 3-0 win over the Sarasota HS Sailors. DeSoto Central HS left-hander Justin Smith was marvelous at DeSoto Central Grounds. The Panthers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
