Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Ligers, 7-2
|
The Blanchard HS Ligers moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting Central HS Wildcats at Ligers Ballpark by a score of 7-2. Ligers shortstop Orlando García did some major damage. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Ligers a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Round 1.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Ligers left fielder Andy Carpenter hit a fastball from Mark Whaley for a 2-run double. Just like that, Blanchard HS was up, 3-2.
"Huge," García said. "Game 5 is huge."
Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Wildcats Ballpark in Little Rock.
