When he got to Winter Springs HS, Ron Jackson was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Round 1.

In a remarkable performance at Spartans Ballpark, the 17-year-old rookie right-hander led the Bears to a 1-0 shutout of the host South Caldwell HS Spartans. With the win, Winter Springs HS took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Round 1.

Jackson delivered a quality start for Winter Springs HS. The 6-foot-3 right-hander allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings of work.

"That was fun, that was just good baseball," said Jackson.
