Hillers Hammered by Calhoun, Drop Game 3 to Knights
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Peter Calhoun, the West Lauderdale HS Knights stopped the visiting Union City HS Hillers, 7-4, in Game 3 of the Round 1. Calhoun was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Knights, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Michael Billings, the West Lauderdale HS left fielder, contributed a 2-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 7-4, Knights. For the game, Billings was 2-4 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said West Lauderdale HS manager Thomas Peña.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of West Lauderdale HS in Collinsville.
