Trendsetters Sunk by Statesmen
|
New Frontier Park was the site for Imperial League action featuring the New Orleans Trendsetters and Charleston Statesmen.
The Charleston Statesmen topped the New Orleans Trendsetters, 6-3, in Imperial League action at New Frontier Park. The standout performance belonged to Charleston pitcher and San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic, native Robinson Fernández. Fernández picked up the win for Charleston, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Wang-gi Kun nailed down his 8th save.
Charleston used the timely hitting of Fraser MacIlraith to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Statesmen ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Charleston manager Luis Salars commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Charleston now sports a record of 65-54.
