Alleghenies Reel In 4-2 Win
|
The West Virginia Alleghenies defeated the New Jersey Hitmen, 4-2, at Watt Powell Field. West Virginia second baseman Mitsuhide Yamamoto had a superb performance. He was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Christopher MacWhirter picked up the save, his 16th. With the win, the Alleghenies improved to 67-51.
Yamamoto had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Chris Pate, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Alleghenies a 4-2 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Yamamoto.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Yamamoto told the West Virginia Herald.
