Don Washington helped his team muscle past the Bakersfield Bears, 7-6. In the game, the Reno center fielder was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. The win went to Andrés Pérez in relief, making him now 6-2. Daniel Hernández took the loss for Bakersfield. The loss makes Bakersfield 40-75.
Reno used the timely hitting of Iván Martínez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Zephyrs on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning never gets dull," said Martínez.
