Eton shortstop Stuart Leadbetter made his presence felt in the 11-4 Rifles triumph over the Matanzas HS El Poeta. Leadbetter was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times. Brad Rossell got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. With the win, Eton upped its record to 15-13.

Eton second baseman Robbie Zebedee contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Rifles ahead, 2-0.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Zebedee.
