Guantanamo HS Beats Point Grey HS, 5-1

The Guantanamo HS Diamond Cats got a marvelous performance from pitcher Daniel Martínez. The right-hander kept the Point Grey HS offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Guantanamo HS victory at Ballpark of Vancouver. Martínez yielded 1 run over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. The third-place Diamond Cats bumped their record to 17-10.
Francis Durand helped out the Guantanamo HS cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder drove in 2 runs.
"Winning is the only objective," said Durand after the game.
