South Kamloops HS Beaten, 5-4, by Gonaives HS
|
In the 5-4 Gonaives HS win over South Kamloops HS, the impact of Nicolas Charlet was substantial. Charlet, who is tied for 10th in the AC in home runs with 7, was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Gonaives HS reliever Gérard Vernier was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Ward McBride. The Revolution saw their win-loss record go to 14-11. At the same time, the Colossus fell to 13-12.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Gonaives HS trailing 4-2, Charlet jumped on a fastball from 16-year old right-handed pitcher Ward McBride and hit a 3-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Revolution had a walk-off win.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Charlet, cracking a smile.
