Matanzas HS Keeps Spiraling Downward
The Matanzas HS El Poeta extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Canuck HS Battlecats.

The Canuck HS Battlecats beat the Matanzas HS El Poeta, 8-3, at Seaside Park. Steven Acheson went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The 18-year old first baseman was a menace to Matanzas HS all day. Matanzas HS is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.

Acheson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Canuck HS in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Acheson took a fastball from Carlos Vargas and stroked the home run to right. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Battlecats to leap in front, 3-1.

"I wish I had a genie in a bottle," said losing manager Travis Cruz. "First thing I'd ask for is a win."
