Point Grey HS Collects 6-1 Win
|
The Point Grey HS Hounds stopped the Matanzas HS El Poeta, 6-1, at Matanzas Field. The Hounds got a big game from Chris Baker, who was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Point Grey HS pitcher Ed Taylor earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Ernesto Cabrera suffered the loss. Matanzas HS has now lost 5 straight.
Point Grey HS used a clutch at-bat from Jason Green to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hounds ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Matanzas HS manager Travis Cruz was surprisingly upbeat after the game. "One of these days," he said, "we're gonna light it up. Even if it takes Willie Nelson to show us how."
