Physicists Take Down Terrors, 2-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the ETH Zurich Physicists and Hamilton Canada Terrors.
In a low-scoring contest between the ETH Zurich Physicists and the Hamilton Canada Terrors, 18-year old left-handed pitcher Ulin Hess proved to be the difference. The ETH Zurich left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Physicists win. Hess yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-2.
Takiji Tanaka had a big solo home run for the Physicists in the top of the third inning. With ETH Zurich leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 18-year old left-handed pitcher Todd Miller and swatted a home run to center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Physicists ahead, 2-0.
"Winning never gets old," said Hess.
By defeating Hamilton Canada, the third-place Physicists improved to 22-18.
