Light Blues Handed 7-4 Loss
|
Behind the hitting of Scott Mcdonald, the Oxford Dark Blues stopped the Cambridge Light Blues, 7-4. Mcdonald was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Dark Blues. Oxford reliever Mark Jago picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Derek Berriman was saddled with the loss. Earning his 6th save for Oxford was Bart Trudgeon.
With Oxford leading 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Mcdonald hit a fastball from Bill Pinhay for a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Dark Blues ahead, 7-1.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Oxford skipper José Gallegos. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
The defeat makes Cambridge 22-10.
