Horizon HS Triumphs with Late Surge
The Rio Rancho HS Goats got a superb performance from pitcher José Ruíz, but the Horizon HS Huskies still won the game, 2-0. Ruíz threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Alberto Vélez was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was José Ruíz. Chris Davis earned the save for Horizon HS, his 14th of the year.

Horizon HS went in front, 1-0, on John Johnston's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Johnston hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Rio Rancho HS pitcher Allen Alexander visibly perturbed.

"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Johnston. "Sometimes you need just one or two."

The Huskies raised their record to 19-22.
