|
In a low-scoring affair between the Mankato West HS Reds and the Lodi HS Devils, pitcher Jeff Henson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Mankato West HS right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Reds win. James Miller got credit for the save for Mankato West HS. It was his 10th of the year. With the win, Mankato West HS raised its record to 22-17.
Alex Bletsoe had a big solo home run for the Reds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Mankato West HS leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from 17-year old left-handed pitcher Jorge Vélez and swatted a home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 3-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Bletsoe.
