Torchbearers Lose, 8-7, in 13
|
Thanks in large part to second baseman Harvey McCabe, the Tumwater HS Thunderhawks clipped the Sprague HS Torchbearers, 8-7, in 13 innings. McCabe was 3-7 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Tumwater HS pitcher Jon Blair earned the win, hiking his record to 5-0. Jack Jackson suffered the loss. Tumwater HS goes to 23-12, Sprague HS to 15-20.
The decisive at-bat for Tumwater HS came with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded, McCabe hit a bases-clearing double for the walk-off win.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Fausto Navarro.
