Bakersfield Stopped, 6-4, by Palm Springs
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Palm Springs Codgers and Bakersfield Bears.
Bang-xao Niu, who finished 3rd in the IL in wins with 16 in 2032, was locked in. The left-hander led the Palm Springs Codgers to a 6-4 win against the Bakersfield Bears at Elderberry Field. Niu yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. Bob Miles was credited with the save for Palm Springs, his 1st of the season.
Palm Springs took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Ryan Cattanach hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Codgers in front, 3-2.
"I love playing this game, so you'll never see me not want to go out there and pitch," said Niu.
The loss makes Bakersfield 4-8.
