San Antonio and Amsterdam duked it out and the Calzones of Laredo came out victorious.
Fernando Martínez knocked in 3 runs to help San Antonio beat Amsterdam, 6-3. The Tinley Park, Illinois native tallied 2 singles and 1 home run. Shan-tang Chou went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The left-hander struck out 4 and walked 1. With the win, he ups his record to 4-5 this season.
Martínez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for San Antonio in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Martínez took a knuckle curve from Jake Bain and stroked the home run to center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Calzones of Laredo to leap in front, 5-3.
"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Martínez.
The win puts San Antonio at 65-50 this season.
