Nuggets Sneak Past Torchbearers, 3-2
|
The Dakota HS Nuggets saddled the Sprague HS Torchbearers with a loss at Ballpark of the Torchbearers. The final score was 3-2. Phil Rose was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Dakota HS first baseman scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Francisco Cavazos snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Jack Jackson suffered the loss. Jeremiah Lawson sewed up the save, his 1st.
Rose had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count cutter from Jack Jackson, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Nuggets a 3-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rose.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Sprague HS manager Lorenzo Castro.
After today's action, Dakota HS sits at 14-15, while Sprague HS falls to 12-17.
