Matadors Need Extra Frames to Get Past Goats
The Boone HS Matadors knocked off the Rio Rancho HS Goats, 8-3, at Ballpark of Rio Rancho. It took 10 innings. Domingo Martínez was a prime reason Boone HS won. The designated hitter threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Lorenzo Díaz, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Boone HS is now 13-14.

Boone HS used the timely hitting of Dave Johnston to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Matadors on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"That's what these guys do," said Matadors manager Drake Fisher. "They battle, they fight."
