Muñóz Leads Trendsetters to 5-3 Win Over Hitmen
|
New Orleans and New Jersey got after it at New Frontier Park.
The New Orleans Trendsetters dumped the New Jersey Hitmen, 5-3, in large part due to designated hitter Manuel Muñóz. On the day, Muñóz was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Trendsetters. Joe Arnold, the winning pitcher, is now 7-6. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 0.
Muñóz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch changeup from Glenn Roberts, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Trendsetters a 5-3 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Muñóz.
Said New Orleans manager Alfredo Vega: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The Trendsetters improved their record to 50-63 by beating New Jersey.
