Big Day for Daikawa in 11-7 Zephyrs Win
|
Reno designated hitter Kenkichi Daikawa contributed significantly to his team's 11-7 win over the Duluth Warriors. Daikawa, who finished 3rd in the IL in slugging percentage with .600 in 2038, went 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Zephyrs. Andrés Pérez got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. After losing, Duluth is 5-8.
Pablo Ortíz was 1-5 for Reno. The 2038 Royal Raker Award winner had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring single off Andrés Suárez. It was his 6th hit of the season.
Ortíz told the Reno Today: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."
