Newton Excels in 8-0 Montserrat Win
|
Montserrat catcher Oliver-John Newton contributed significantly to his team's 8-0 win over the Punta Cana Mamajuanas. Newton, who is tied for 7th in the IBC with a .290 batting average, went 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Mystique. António Hernández was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 1 hit, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Montserrat goes to 47-21, Punta Cana to 22-46.
Walt Owens contributed to the Montserrat win with a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
