Islanders Win Squeaker, 7-6, Over Fubuki
|
Toyohira third baseman Kohei Ogawa was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Laval beat the Fubuki, 7-6. Laval reliever Raúl Martínez was the winner. His record is now 8-11. Craig Keen took the loss. With the win, the Islanders improved to 57-74.
Minoru Ishikawa was the walk-off hero for Laval. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Islanders center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was jumping at the end," Ishikawa said.
