Islanders Held in Check by Kings, Lose, 6-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Red Deer Kings and Laval Islanders.
Red Deer pitcher José Tojeira had a large part in his team subduing the Laval Islanders, 6-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The Kings, at 62-63, sit in second place in the Pacific Alliance Wild Rose.
Red Deer used the hitting of Luis Rodríguez to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Kings on top, 3-1. For the game, Rodríguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Red Deer manager Michizane Oya commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
