Bruins Deal De La Salle HS 3-1 Defeat

The Wilson Classical HS Bruins beat the De La Salle HS Myrmidon, 3-1, at Bruins Ballpark. Starting pitcher Mike Vélez was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winning pitcher was Vélez, now 3-1. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 2. The defeat makes De La Salle HS 17-8.
Kent González had a big 2-run home run for the Bruins in the bottom of the second inning. With Wilson Classical HS leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Thomas Conner, who is tied for 8th in the WL in quality starts with 2, and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Bruins on top, 3-0.
"Mike is a gamer," said Wilson Classical HS manager Román Guerrero.
